Phoenix Family's Adopt a Senior program matches generous sponsors with older adults who might otherwise go without holiday gifts. Every gift you bring goes directly to the senior you've adopted.

No one should spend the holidays feeling forgotten.

For many older adults in our community, the holidays can be the loneliest time of year. Fixed incomes, limited mobility, and shrinking social circles mean that small gestures carry enormous weight.

When you adopt a senior, you're not just giving a gift — you're telling someone that they matter, that someone thought of them, and that they haven't been forgotten.

How It Works

Three simple steps.

Complete the sponsor form

Fill out the online sponsor form. Beginning November 10, you'll receive senior profiles and wish lists to choose from.

Choose a senior

Each profile introduces the senior you'll support, along with a personalized wish list of sizes, preferences, and gift ideas.

Shop & schedule drop-off

Purchase any or all items on the wish list, then schedule your drop-off and deliver the gifts to Phoenix Family by December 13.

Questions before you sign up?

How can I adopt a senior? +
Complete the online sponsor form. Our team will follow up with available senior profiles and next steps as soon as profiles are ready the week of November 10.
Can my group adopt a senior? +
Yes. Many groups, departments, and families adopt together. It's a meaningful way to involve a team in the holiday season.
Do I choose the senior? +
Yes. You'll receive several profiles and can select the one that resonates most with you. Each profile includes a personal introduction and wish list.
How do I know what to buy? +
Each senior provides a wish list with sizes, preferences, and gift ideas. You can purchase any or all items — it's entirely up to you.
How does drop-off work? +
All deliveries must be scheduled in advance during the December 2–13 window. You can book a time online or call 816.612.8842. Staff will assist you when you arrive at 3908 Washington St., Kansas City.
Where is the program available? +
Adopt a Senior is currently available in the Kansas City Metro, Des Moines, Iowa, and St. Louis, Missouri.
