HIKE
HIKE gives children one-on-one reading support and encouragement so they can build the literacy skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
Poverty rarely shows up as just one challenge. A child may be struggling with reading. A parent may be trying to keep up with rent, food, and work. An older adult may be choosing between basic needs and isolation.
Progress becomes more possible when support is close by, consistent, and shaped around real life.
That is why Phoenix Family works directly inside affordable housing communities. Our programs help people meet urgent needs, strengthen essential skills, and stay connected to support over time. When that support is steady and personal, families and seniors are better able to build stability and work toward exiting poverty.
Our Approach
Poverty is rarely one problem at a time. That’s why Phoenix Family’s work is built around more than a quick fix.
We help people meet urgent needs, stay connected to support, and build the stability and skills that make long-term progress possible.
Because our programs operate inside affordable housing communities, residents can access help where they already live. Over time, those relationships and supports create the conditions where progress becomes more possible.
Our Programs
Phoenix Family’s programs focus on different stages of life, but they all follow the same approach: practical support, consistent relationships, and services that are close to home.
For children, that means building the reading skills that shape future opportunity. For families, it means navigating challenges while strengthening financial stability. For older adults, it means staying connected to food, wellness, and community.
HIKE gives children one-on-one reading support and encouragement so they can build the literacy skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
Families First helps families navigate immediate challenges, build practical skills, and work toward greater stability for the long term.
Senior Empowerment helps older adults stay connected to food, wellness support, and community so they can remain stably housed and age in place with dignity and choice.
Get Involved
Volunteers strengthen the communities we serve in many different ways, from supporting children’s learning to assisting with programs and events across our housing communities.

Phoenix Family’s programs may look different on the surface, but they are all rooted in the same core principles about what helps people make progress over time.
These ideas shape how we design programs, build relationships, and support residents across our communities.
